The Coffee Cups Are Empty

The coffee cups are empty

Our fleeting joy has gone

We’re left with only silence

And all that has gone wrong

The debris on the table

The crumbs are everywhere

Impatience here aplenty

We used to really care

An anger like forever

A solace we can’t find

We’re looking at our phones still

For hope we’ve left behind

We focus on solutions

As much as we can take

The bridges we’ve been building

Were always going to break

The coffee cups are empty

Our wasted spoils of war

Still not a word been spoken

And you’re no longer here

No more
